Dermal Fillers

The facial aging process is a complex interplay of changes to the skin, fat pads, muscles, ligaments, and bone that reshape one’s appearance over time. This can lead to flattened facial contours, increased wrinkling and folds, sagging skin, and thin lips. These complaints can be temporarily improved with hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers.

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a naturally occurring substance that helps keep the skin hydrated and plump. Over time, our levels of HA decrease, leading to volume loss, wrinkles, and skin laxity. Hyaluronic acid fillers are injectable gels that replenish HA in targeted areas, restoring volume, smoothing lines, and enhancing facial contours.

We use trusted brands like Juvéderm®, Restylane®, and RHA® formulated with hyaluronic acid to deliver immediate, natural-looking results. These filters are ideal for addressing a wide range of cosmetic concerns, including:

  • Nasolabial Folds: The lines that run from the nose’s sides to the mouth’s corners.

  • Marionette Lines: Vertical lines extending from the mouth’s corners to the chin.

  • Lips: To add volume or enhance lip shape for a fuller, more defined appearance.

  • Cheeks: To restore volume and contour to sunken or flattened cheeks.

  • Under-Eye Hollows: To reduce the appearance of dark circles and hollowness under the eyes.

  • Chin and Jawline: To enhance the chin and jawline definition and improve the facial profile.

Hyaluronic acid fillers are injected at varying depths beneath the skin’s surface to fill in wrinkles and add volume to areas that have lost fullness. HA attracts and retains water, providing immediate hydration and a plumping effect in the treatment area. This leads to smoother skin, enhanced contours, and a rejuvenated appearance.

Because HA is a naturally occurring substance, hyaluronic acid fillers are biocompatible and safe for most patients. Results are noticeable immediately, and you can expect to see full effects within a few days as the filler settles and the swelling resolves.

Hyaluronic acid fillers offer numerous benefits for those seeking a non-surgical solution to facial rejuvenation:

  • Immediate, Natural-Looking Results: HA fillers provide instant volume and smoothness with results that look and feel natural.

  • Minimal Downtime: Patients can resume most activities soon after treatment.

  • Customizable Treatment: Fillers can be tailored to address specific concerns, allowing for precise enhancement.

  • Long-Lasting Effects: Results can last from 6 months to 2 years, depending on the product and treatment area.

  • Reversible: If desired, hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase.

Dr. Michael Tee is dedicated to delivering precise, personalized results that start with a filler consultation. He will evaluate your skin and facial features and discuss your aesthetic goals to determine the best hyaluronic acid filler for your needs.

During your injection appointment, the treatment area will be thoroughly cleansed. It is best if you can arrive without makeup. The filler is carefully injected into targeted areas using a fine needle or cannula (blunt-tipped). You may experience mild swelling or bruising, typically subsiding within a few days. It is best to avoid scheduling a filler procedure within a few days of any important events.

While hyaluronic acid fillers are generally safe and well-tolerated, it’s important to be aware of potential side effects. Most reactions are mild and temporary, resolving independently within a few days. These include redness, swelling, bruising, and tenderness.

Other uncommon side effects include lumps or bumps that can often be gently massaged out and infection, which can present as a tender bump that can be treated with antibiotics and dissolving the hyaluronic acid. More serious side effects, such as vascular occlusion, are rare, but knowing that they can occur is important.

To minimize risks and ensure the best results, it’s crucial to have your dermal filler treatments performed by experienced, board-certified professionals, such as Dr. Michael Tee.
